Kupfer & Sohn – Decades of experience in service, quality and freshness

When Andreas and Margarete Kupfer started their fruit and vegetable retail in Großenbuch in 1913, they had no way of knowing that they were laying the foundations of a very successful company.  After World War II, their sons Karl, Willi, Josef and Andreas Kupfer joined the company in 1946 and continued the trading operations.  Over the following years, the medium-sized family business continued to expand.  In order to optimise the import of fruit and vegetables from Greece, Andreas Kupfer & Sohn GmbH Munich was founded in 1969. Six years later, both companies were turned into corporations.  In 1983, Andras Kupfer & Sohn GmbH Nuremberg became a shareholder of Fruchtring Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG (Fruchtring trading company, limited partnership with a limited liability company as general partner).

In 1988, a new warehouse was built at the wholesale market in Nuremberg. The transition from regional wholesaler to international service provider was completed when Kupfer & Sohn became shareholder of COBANA Bananen-Einzelhandelsgesellschaft mbH & Co KG (COBANA Bananas retailing company, limited partnership with a limited liability company as general partner). The German reunification marked the beginning of further expansion in Germany and Eastern Europe.

Today, our company is run by the third and fourth generations of our family. Our company is structured by category management and we supply specialised retail, organised food retailers, discounters, gastronomy and chain restaurants. Today we are one of the biggest fruit and vegetable suppliers and service providers in Germany, and we take special pride in the fact that 2013 will mark our 100th anniversary.
